I am fortunate enough to have a unique perspective when it comes to treating many types of eating disorders. My nutrition degree has allowed me to develop a unique and all-encompassing approach to treating these disorders.
First, we examine the underlying inappropriate negative thoughts you may be experiencing about yourself, your body and your world. By discovering the root of these thoughts we can then work to replace them with more adaptive and positive thoughts. I am supportive and nonjudgmental throughout this whole process.
I also use novel approaches toward eating disorder treatments. For example, I frequently eat meals with my clients to help them overcome food phobia. I teach mindful eating habits, and use my education in nutrition to defy food myths to which we tend to fall victim. Most importantly, I help to develop a team for my eating disorder patients that includes their doctor, dietician, fitness specialist, therapists, and any other supportive individual they need to help them become successful.
